The Farmhouse Family Rental in Maine

Bremen, ME

1-8 Guests • Lodge • Private • Self-Guided/DIY

Description

A perfectly preserved piece of land boasting timelessness and tradition, a destination for those seeking a respite from a busier world.

The Farmhouse was part of the original boys camp, opened in 1935 and closed in 1941 at the start of WW2. The house was called the 'Top House' and served as part-time dining all as well as a check-in area for the campers arriving for their summer session. After the camp's closing, the Farmhouse was used by the owner's family as a private guest house.

Situated at the entrance of the property at the top of a sweeping meadow, the Farmhouse offers four bedrooms, one full bathroom, and a full kitchen. The perfect home base for a family vacation, hunting or fishing excursion, or quiet retreat to MidCoast Maine.

THE SPACE

The house is redone in a modern style, yet keeping many aspects of the classic American Farmhouse, with a spacious kitchen and bathroom and more intimate sitting rooms. There is a cozy living room that is perfect for gatherings, a bright sunroom for morning coffee and meadow views, and a large yard, with a Solo Stove firepit and adjoining fields perfect for relaxing, picnicking, or meandering strolls.

GUEST ACCESS

In both the summer and winter seasons, guests of the Farmhouse can enjoy the large yard and Solo Stove firepit. The Farmhouse is a wonderful cold-weather destination, with full access to frozen Lake Pemaquid, a 7-minute snowshoe, walk, or ski down the hill. Please do not drive down to the lake, it's easy to get stuck... we invite you to enjoy the walk! The camp cabins are boarded up, but if you're interested, you can ski or skate on the lake. Lake access is not available in the summer (June thru September).

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

The Farmhouse is typically booked in the summer as part of the larger Camp property but is often available as a separate rental as advertised in this listing. If reserving the Farmhouse only, please be aware that during certain times throughout the year, other guests may be on the property, though separated by a large distance. With a summer Farmhouse reservation, you may have limited access to the lake. If there are no other guests on-site, you may coordinate for use of our lakeside amenities (firepit & firewood, BBQ grill & propane, canoes, swim float, outdoor seating) for an additional fee. Please inquire if interested. Your host lives on-site in the adjacent Farmhouse apartment and will be happy to orient you when you arrive.
