Spring Turkey Hunting in Oregon

Because of Oregon’s incredibly fast-growing turkey population, Oregon's six-week spring turkey season is among the most liberal in the United States. It provides hunters the opportunity to take up to three gobblers during the spring season. The spring turkey hunting season runs April 15 – May 31 each year, giving hunters an opportunity to experience an incredible mating season with unpressured and vocal birds. Oregon's youth season starts the weekend prior and allows two days for youth only.

Umpqua Valley in Southwestern Oregon is said to have the largest population of Rio Grande Turkeys this side of the Mississippi and the Southern and Mid-Willamette Valley is following close behind. We invite you to hunt with us, to see for yourself, how incredible Oregon turkey hunting is.

Oregon Turkey Hunting Outfitters

Our dedicated team of local guides grew up hunting the Valley in Oregon. They are excellent archery and gun hunters and experts at calling birds in close. We welcome hunters of all ages, using both archery equipment and shotguns as well as those with any physical disabilities to experience some of the finest turkey hunting around.

Oregon Turkey Habitat and Hunting Methods

Turkey habitat varies greatly throughout the Umpqua and Willamette Valley in Oregon. Much of our turkey hunting takes place on the edge of the valley where farmlands mix with forest lands. This gives us exceptional habitat in all of our turkey hunting areas. In most scenarios you can expect rolling hills covered with tall oak and fir trees, scattered open meadows and thick brushy hillsides, and creek bottoms that mix with farmlands at the lower elevations.

Our spring turkey hunting methods will change with weather and habits as well as public vs. private land hunts. As the spring weather warms, birds will move to higher elevations, and as birds move so will we. Our most common techniques include hunting from ground blinds over decoys, spot and stalk, calling and setting up near roost trees in the pre-dawn and dusk hours.

Turkey Hunting Accommodations

Our World Class private land lease does not include lodging but is within a 30-minute drive of a local motel. Either a motel, RV, or tent camp accommodations will be used on other hunts depending on the location to be hunted. On most of our private land turkey hunts we will be staying in a local Motel. If we are turkey hunting on remote private lands or public land, we will use a tent camp or RV.
