Charter Fishing in New Orleans

1/2-Day Skiff Boat Charter | 4-5 hours for 2 anglers | Lodging Available

If you want to take a memorable trip in New Orleans, fly-fishing trips are available here! We offer a whole array of trips for our customers to choose from. No matter what kind of trip you have in mind, we know that when you choose one of our guides to take you out, you will have an experience that you will never forget! Our guides will give you the training that you need if you are a first-time fisherman. No matter your experience level, we know that you'll have the time of your life. We are a fly fishing and light tackle charter company operating in the marshes of Southeastern Louisiana in and around the New Orleans area.

Louisiana, also known as Sportsman’s Paradise, is a year-round fishery with a wide variety of species to target, although we focus primarily on sight-fishing for redfish.

Fishing Seasons

  • Spring - During this time of year, the average redfish we will see will be in the 6-12 pound range, so we recommend using a 7-9 wt rod with a floating line. Some other species you might run across in the spring include bass, trout, sheepshead, and drum. We will be fishing mostly out of the Delacroix area which is about 1 hr from downtown New Orleans.
  • Summer - Although we mostly focus on Jack fishing from mid-July through September, anglers may have the opportunity to catch smaller redfish in the marsh or sharks, gar and some occasional large redfish on the edge of the gulf. This fishery is a lot like migratory Tarpon fishing with big fish in clear, shallow water pushing down coastlines over sand. The only difference is, unlike with tarpon, if you make a good shot on the Jack, he will usually eat.
  • Fall - Fall is a transitional time in which redfish are spawning in offshore schools then moving to more interior marshes when the temperatures start to drop. We stay pretty mobile during the early part of the fall, fishing as far west as Lafitte and as far east as Slidell. Other species you may see in the early part of fall include jacks, sharks, cobia, gar and triple tail.
  • Winter -By this time of year the larger redfish have moved into their usual winter areas, making for consistently good fishing. Also during the colder months, the sediments in our waters drop out leaving it crystal clear. Other species you might see in the winter include large drum (up to 50+ pounds), sheepshead, and gar.

Base price is for up to 2 anglers for a 1/2-Day Charter. Lodging can be added for an additional fee per night based on the size of your party. (cleaning fee required)

Miles's Trip

Miles L

Being a Louisiana fishing guide takes experience, skill, and most of all passion. We live and fish here in Louisiana year round, allowing us to monitor the subtle changes in our fishery. This gives us the ability to provide our clients with the best experience possible on the water. We fish these waters for our own pleasure, so our passion extends past putting our clients on fish. We are concerned about the well-being of our coast’s future and want to help preserve it for generations to come by using conservation-minded fishing practices.

Rules & Guidelines

Our guides will give you the training that you need if you are a first time fisherman. No matter your experience level, we know that you’ll have the time of your life.

Weather is always a factor so we recommend you book your trip with the possibility of rescheduling. We don’t want you locked into a flight or hotel room and the weather is not fishable. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions about fishing or lodging this time of year.

OUR EQUIPMENT

All of our guides fish out of technical poling skiffs. These skiffs are perfect for maneuvering around the marsh and give you the best opportunity to see and catch fish. The guide will stand on a poling platform on the back of the boat while you stand on a casting platform on the front. We will effortlessly glide through extremely shallow water hunting down targets for you to cast to. Our guides’ trained eye will point out fish for you. Fly fishing is our most popular method of catching fish on our trips.

We have available all equipment necessary to fly fish but also encourage clients to bring their own if they would like.

Some days fly-fishing can be tough in Louisiana because of wind or water conditions so we also provide light spin cast equipment.

Fly-fishing has to be one of the most rewarding methods of taking redfish so if you feel like you don’t have the skills necessary, we can teach you.
