Description
High Country Fly Fishing
We provide focused high-country fishing trips in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area.
All of our day trips are horseback-based fishing trips.
Horseback fishing trips are operated out of our ranch and pack station into the Flat Tops Wilderness. On these trips, fishermen should expect to ride a minimum of 1.5 hours each way. These rides take you through beautiful country to pristine lakes and alpine streams. The primary catch on our horseback day trips is brook trout and cutthroats.
All-day trips include riding horses, a basic coffee/pastry breakfast, a campfire-cooked lunch, and a dedicated guide per 2-4 guests.
Our ranch is located approximately one hour from the Vail Valley and Glenwood Springs. Because of our remoteness, we rarely run into other people (hikers, horseback riders, bikers, etc.) during our trips. Trips are in a truly pristine wilderness that no longer exists next to any of the ski towns.
“One of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. As tough as it was, I’d do it again In a heartbeat.” - Gregory M.
Base Price is per angler for a minimum of 2 anglers. If you are a single angler there is an additional fee.

Summer Trip Additional Information
General Considerations
The best gear you can bring is the right attitude to enjoy the wilderness. Colorado serves up a high percentage of perfect sunny days in the summer; the fish bite all day, wildlife abounds and there are mind boggling views. However, the area is a remote and wild place, Weather and many other variables can affect your trip. Having the right attitude for this type of trip can make or break your experience.
The weather in June-August is usually sunny with highs in the 55-75 degree range and night time temps in the 40-50 degree range. Just keep in mind, the altitude does allow any day to turn out to be a winter day. A large portion of our area is 10k to above 11k in elevation.
On day trips, you can get away with most all clothing materials as long as you make sure to bring decent rain gear.
Don’t hesitate to give us a call about any specific gear quesitons.
