When you schedule a stay in one of our summer drop camps, you get to enjoy all the wilderness has to offer while leaving all the work of getting in and out and setting up camp to us.

Our camps are fully set up with wall tents for cooking and large teepee-style tents for sleeping. Chairs, tables, cots, cook stove, water filter, and all cooking utensils are provided. You just need to bring your own food, or let us arrange it for an additional fee.

Clients and their gear will be brought in and out of camp on horseback.

Chicago Basin Camp

Our Chicago Basin Camp is our most remote wilderness camp. It sits in a high mountain basin and is surrounded by 14,000ft peaks. This camp is typically set up for up to 4 people and is about a 6-hour horseback ride away from the nearest trailhead. It is an excellent base camp location to explore the region's mining history, view wildlife including a resident mountain goat herd, or attempt to climb some of Colorado's most remote 14,000ft peaks. This camp can also be hiked to from the Needleton drop-off on the Durango Silverton Railroad.

Base Price is per person for a 3-day trip. For a 5-day trip, select the 5-day Add-On when booking.
