Butte Creek - Rifle Elk Hunt

1-12 Guests • Drop Camp • Public • Guided

Description

Adjacent to Yellowstone Park, the Thorofare region is one of the few places to hunt Elk during the rut. A general Elk tag area, we have consistently been at least 90% successful on mature bull Elk (5x5 or better). We believe we offer the finest trophy Elk hunting in the lower 48.

As a bonus, the Elk and Deer gun seasons run together giving you the option to combo hunt. While we

don't kill many Deer in September, by the first of October till seasons end, hunters are consistently killing quality Deer along with their Elk. To some degree the success of your hunt depends on your preparation;

however, this area year after year offers fantastic opportunities at 340 plus bull Elk. We were 86% on shot opportunities for 2015, with 15 of the bulls harvested being 6 points or better!

Butte Creek Camp is located at 8,900 ft. 24 miles inside the Bridger-Teton Wilderness (Elk area 60, Deer Region F). This remote camp is located 7 hours via horseback from the Deer Creek Trailhead. We operate in the Bridger-Teton under a special use permit and are an Equal Opportunity Service Provider.

Meals are served in an 18 x 36 ft. cook and dining tent, which doubles as a recreation tent used for card playing and sharing the days adventures. Laughingly referred to as "the big top" by the Forest Service this tent is heated by 2 large wood burning stoves and lit by lanterns.

Two hunters share a 10 x 12 ft. tent with 5 ft. side walls. Wood stoves, cots, lanterns and foam mattresses are provided for every tent.

Butte Creek Camp also has the luxury of a separate shower tent with hot showers available

any afternoon.

Rules & Guidelines

LICENSE

Get information about Wyoming Non-Resident License Prices & Application Deadlines from the Wyoming Game & Fish (WGFD) Website: https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Apply-or-Buy/License-Fee-List

We help all our clients through the application process. All clients with reservations

will be sent "license packets" in December of the year before their hunt. We encourage

you to fill those out promptly and return them to us so we can proof them for you and

forward them on to the WGFD. This helps to ensure your application does not get held up for any oversight or omission.

PREFERENCE POINTS

For non-residents, Wyoming has preference points in place for big game species. The

preference point system is designed to improve your odds of eventually drawing a

license. Preference points can be accumulated either by applying for a license with the

preference point option or purchasing a preference point each year for the species you

are interested in. Preference points can be purchased online by using the WGFD website during the July 1-October 31 application period.

While we advocate purchasing preference points for some hunts, in many instances, they are not necessary to draw a tag so please contact us for more information on this program.

DEPOSIT & CANCELLATION

Please note, there is a 50% deposit included with your booking fee.

If you are not successful drawing a license, this deposit can be held over for

the next year or refunded in full. Once you have drawn a big game license, your deposit

is non-refundable.

The cancellation policy for guests is as follows: Guests may cancel up to 60 days before their scheduled departure and receive a full refund—within the 60 days their deposit is forfeited. Please carefully read our cancellation policy before booking. All clients are sent a contract to sign outlining the dates of your trip, the agreed upon price and the services provided.

Trips booked over a year in advance may be booked at the current year's

price.
