Rules & Guidelines

The Essentials

Clothing

Oklahoma's weather can be a little temperamental at times. You should always be prepared. Temperatures can be 50 degrees one moment and below 0 the next. Bringing a good clothing layering system is always a good idea. Hand warmers, stocking caps, and quality gloves are highly recommended.

The Shot

The most exciting part of your trip. Letting the steel fly. A 12 gauge or 20 is efficient in getting the job done. A modified or mid range choke tends to work the best. Typical shots range from 15 yards to 35 yards. Shot selection is very important, that's your connection to the game.

We recommend bringing two boxes of shells for each day you are here. #4 or #2 in a 3 inch non toxic load is optimal for geese and ducks alike.

Federal Duck Stamp

Federal law requires that every waterfowl hunter 16 and older must carry on their person a valid Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamp, signed in ink across the face. These are available for $25 at U.S. post offices, or for $26.50 at any Oklahoma license dealer as well as at wildlifedepartment.com.

Waterfowl Hunting License

Every resident 16 years of age and over and every nonresident (regardless of age) must have in their possession an Oklahoma Waterfowl Hunting license while hunting waterfowl, unless exempt. Licenses are available from any Oklahoma license dealer. Licenses are also available at wildlifedepartment.com

Liability

All hunters in your group will be required to sign a release of liability waiver prior to hunting.
