Derek is the owner and boat captain. Derek has been a firefighter for 17 years and is currently working full time as a Company Officer at the Battlefield Fire Protection District. Captain Marlin or as we like to call him Captain Fish is a licensed Captain with the United States Coast Guard and holds a great amount of knowledge operating boats on the Missouri waterways. While at the fire department he is a member of the swift water rescue team regularly in charge of driving the rescue boat. He has also worked 8 years with the Showboat Branon Belle in Branon, Missouri holding positions such as medic, engineer, and even having the privilege of getting to drive the behemoth of a vessel every now and then. His dad started him trout fishing as soon as he was old enough to walk and he has spent his whole life growing up learning and fishing the Taneycomo waterways. Captain Marlin got his first bowfishing set up at age 16 and started out walking the riverbanks shooting fish with his deckhand/teammate, Nathan, who would go on to help Derek start the team. Firehouse Bowfishing is a first responder owned and operated guide service fully license and insured.
